Meal Planning Tips

FRESH MARKET
FRESH MARKET

I hosted a meal planning event on facebook a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to put all of the information here for you to be able to refer back to! It really does simplify your life and help keep you on track! First let start with some planners.

This site has adorable printable planners for each month with an attached shopping list sheet >>> http://www.creativideeworkshop.com/calendars--planners.html

I use the meal planner on Numbers (excel for apple computers) It is super simple and right on my computer and it has an attached grocery list.

The app Meal Planner Pal is also very simple to use

Here are a couple of planners you could use

Let's talk simplicity. I LOVE to keep things quick and easy. Here are a few things you can do to keep your meal planning easy -Have a form or a template to use. (I will post a few in the files) -It is ok to repeat! I purposefully make more than needed for dinner so we have meals for lunch. -I also almost always have the same thing for breakfast (oats and oats and oats) I just alternate what I put in them -Have a go to bank of meals you like. -Don't be afraid to keep your meals simple too. - Salads are an easy add for lunch. You can just throw things together and eat!

Pinterest is my go to!! I sit down one night a week to gather new recipes. I try to throw 2-3 new recipes on my menu a week. I look for simple, clean recipes because that's how we roll in the Sullivant house.

Facebook is another great source for recipes. Friends are posting recipes all the time and there are pages you can follow that post recipes that you can add.

If all else fails, google it! There are tons of blogs out there that have great meals. Here are 3 of my favorites.

This is a great site to take a look at if you are interested in meal PREPPING. she has some great grab and go ideas for the week!http://www.beachbody.com/beachbodyblog/…

Each week when I sit down to meal prep I pick my meals and write them down. Then I write down the ingredients I need for each meal on my shopping list. This keeps me laser focused on what to get at the store and helps save me a ton of money because no waste and no extras!

I will post some example meal plans for you to take a peek at smile emoticon

Here is how I keep my meal plan simple. Breakfast, and lunch bases stay the same and I add different things to them. Of course if I'm feeling something else I will go for that, but this keeps me right on track and stress free.

This is one of my favorite topics because it helps save MONEY! Woohoo! When you are planning, look for meals that share ingredients. This way nothing goes to waste. For example one night we are having a tomato soup with turkey sausage and spinach. I will also use the spinach in a salad and a smoothie and I will use the turkey sausage in spaghetti. No waste!

One of my very favorite books for this topic is the Fresh 20. She has meals for all seasons and each week gives you 20 ingredients to make 5 meals from! It is so nice and all of the planning and grocery lists are done for you! I highly recommend it! She also has meals for all kinds of diets, paleo, gluten free, vegan. vegetarian, etc.

Here is her website >>> http://www.thefresh20.com/

I also am a huge fan of leftovers! Leftovers cut down time and budget. Make a little more while you are cooking. Then you only have to cook once and you have meals. Matt usually takes our leftovers for lunch at work and his coworkers are jealous. ;)

Also, Check out the website http://myfridgefood.com/. You can enter the ingredients you have at home and they will give you meal ideas from those ingredients.

I have enjoyed sharing this information with you! I know some of you are on your journey to a healthier lifestyle and I would love to encourage and motivate you along the way.

If you feel like you are ready to take everything you’ve learned in this event and combine it with clean eating, portion control, endless support, and quick 30 minute exercises I host challenge groups to help you achieve your health and fitness goals! The support and encouragement from working with people who have similar goals and mindsets is so powerful and definitely holds you accountable to your goals. Groups like these helped me go from super self conscious, afraid of cameras, embarrassed to be in public, tired, grumpy, sick, trapped, and hopeless to a confident lover of life who loves to be active and participate in many events without fear, energetic, happy, healthy, free, and full of hope and passion. I have overcome anxiety, depression, overeating, high blood sugar and pressure, high cholesterol, and my risk for diabetes. All of this because I took a leap and invested in my well being.

Many of you have seen the way my life (and body) have changed and I will continue to push forward and help you do the same! When you are ready, let’s make this happen!

Thank you all for supporting me and for taking these steps at becoming and happier and healthier you :)
